Individual Bank vs. Mortgage Broker

Bank Loan Officers

The loan officers at a bank, credit union or other lending institution are employees who work to sell the mortgages of their one Bank or employing lending institution.

Mortgage Brokers

As a Mortgage Professional, I work for you, not the bank. I’m paid a "finder’s fee" by the lender so my services are at no cost to you. And since I work with over 60 lenders (Banks, Credit Unions, Private investors) as a freelance agent, my focus is finding you the best deal.

Think of Mortgage Brokers as a scout. I find and evaluate your credit situation to determine which lenders are the best fit for your needs. I then submit your application to multiple lenders and work to negotiate the best deal. I then work closely with the lender who can provide you with the best mortgage until the loan closes.

The big difference is that I work with your best interests in mind, not the bank’s.

Step 1: Get Preapproved

Contact me or submit a pre-approval application online so you can shop with confidence, knowing your financing is secured. There is no obligation and your low mortgage rate is guaranteed for 120 days.

We can then either chat by phone or in person, as I’m always available to meet you at a day, time and location that’s convenient for you.

I can answer any questions you may have and ensure that you are completely comfortable and informed about your financing options and what all that bank jargon means.

Step 2: Relax

While I get to work finding you the best mortgage rate and terms, you can relax and enjoy your day knowing your financing needs are taken care of. It’s that easy.

Once rates are negotiated – this usually only takes 1-2 business days as I have direct access to the loan underwriters – I will provide you with a complete report on your financing option and be there to answer any questions.
